Surviving a long haul flight is challenging to say the least – but girls seem to have it the worst. Our faces swell, our skin gets dry, bags form under our eyes… basically we have turned into walking zombies to get to our travel destination.
En Vogue has created a go to guide for surviving these types of tricky situations. Whether it is your honeymoon, bachelorette party, or destination wedding, I hope this makes your flight more bearable and fun!
This is my absolute must have travel list – it may seem like a lot but throw it all in a cute tote and I promise you will not regret it.
Moisturizer Make up remover (wipes travel best) Comfy socks Packable blanket Noise cancelling headphones Light jacket Scarf Lotion Eye cream Lip balm Deodorant Makeup essentials – mine are my go to lipstick, a bb cream, highlighter, and mascara Form of entertainment Toothbrush/toothpaste Wipes Hair tie and bobby pins Small hair brush – the kind that folds with the mirror is perfect Sleeping pills – prescription or over the counter Energy shot – not really required but it helps me a lot!
Once you have all this packed and ready to go continue with how you would get to the airport and checkin – the recommended time or 5 minutes before running around like myself.
Be sure to grab a water after security. Keeping hydrated is a key to battling jet lag!
On the plane before taking off: wipe off your makeup, apply your moisture, apply lip balm, lotion your arms and hands, and smack on your eye cream. Throw on those comfy socks too!
I usually eat and then take my sleeping pill – it is important to time this perfectly based on the length of your flight and time change. While you’re on the flight try and adjust yourself to your destination’s time.
Once you wake up (which is hopefully just before you begin your descent) go to the bathroom and freshen up. My go to after flight hair style is a messy bun with a couple braids thrown into it – couldn’t be easier and looks like you actually tried.
Take that energy shot and ta da! Nobody will even guess you just stepped off of an 8 hr plus flight that deprives you of moisture and beauty.
A few tips for trying to beat jetlag (even though, lets face it, she always wins): check into your hotel and take a quick nap then immediately get onto the countries schedule. No matter how exhausted you are – time cannot be wasted on vacation! You have sights to see, beaches to relax on, wine to drink, and massages to be had!
Happy and safe travels from the En Vogue Team!
